OKĘCIE Terminal 2 The Contract of the Year
Elektromontaż Poznań concluded the largest contract of the year in April, covering complete power services at Warsaw Airport new Terminal 2. The contract value will exceed PLN 20 million, 70% of which to be implemented by the end of 2005.
The work started in May, and is expected to complete in spring 2006.
Presently, Terminal 2 is the largest of all infrastructure projects under construction in Warsaw. The assignment has been ordered by a Polish and Spanish joint Ferrovial Agroman S.A., Budimex S.A., and Estudio Lamela S.A. consortium who were appointed the project in a tender. With approximate USD 200 million bid, the consortium were able to leave Strabag and Hochtief behind.
PP Porty Lotnicze (Polish Airports Co.) is the investor of the project.
Cable routing launched with no delay once the contract had been signed. The schedule has been tight. We have approved the Consortium’s request to work two shifts.
84% of Poland’s inbound and outbound air traffic is handled by Warsaw Okęcie International Airport. Constant passenger traffic increase during the recent years required that the airport capacity be expanded. The area of the terminal under construction will be approx. 100,000 sqm, featuring the capability of handling 6.5 million travellers annually, and exceeding that of the presently operated Terminal 1 almost twice. In total, Warsaw Okęcie Airport will be able to handle more than 10 million passengers every year. 27 aircraft ramps will be provided, complete with 60 check-in desks and 21 gates.
Office and technical service premises will be erected along with the passenger terminal. State-of-the-art apron and new taxiways will be laid. A 4-level car park will be built near the terminal, along with road junction and city centre connecting highway. A railway line will be extended to the terminal in the future.
The project has been arranged into the following three lots: Terminal 2, apron complete with nav lights, and multi-storey car parking site.
So far, the tenders for the apron and car park have not been decided.
